Day 10 – Three ways to win your heart.

  • Food- Cook, or at least enjoy eating food with me.

Tuna Tartare, one of my most loved dishes

  • Read books and start discussion.

  • Humor me. Make me laugh, and laugh at my bad jokes.

Day 11 – Three favorite movies.

  • The shot above is from of my favorites. If you do not recognize that still, you probably cannot win my heart.
  • Idiocracy– a lot of people don’t get this movie. I don’t think they give it enough chances. When first watched, it is seriously inane. Beavis and Butthead in live action, but on the second go around, you find it really is an accurate satire on the trajectory of society. Also, it offers quotable quotes such as this, “Don’t worry, scrote. There are plenty of ‘tards out there living really kick-ass lives. My first wife was ‘tarded. She’s a pilot now.”
  • The Sound of Music – I have been able to sing every note of this movie since I have been able to produce sounds.

Day 12 – Three appetizers you enjoy.

  • I’m really good at getting ahead of myself. Tartare and Carpaccio of all sorts rank high on my list of appetizers.
  • Fresh Rolls

  • Seaweed Salad

"On my way" --Mavis Staples

Hello to zoo too.

Cafe of India Review:

I’ve had my fair share of indian food. I know my way around a samosa. and can tell the difference between a naan and a paratha, So, I feel pretty comfortable endorsing this restaurant. For around $13.00, there’s soup, salad, fruit, masala, saag paneer, samosas, korma, three other entrees I do not remember the name of off the top of my head, a basket of naan (your choice of plain or garlic) masala tea, Kheer, and more.
I ate myself retarded to say the least. I definitely recommend for the buffet.

Tree of life... Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba Sithi uhhmm ingonyama Ingonyama... Circle of Life.

Elephettes rule the world

My FAVORITE photo taken that day.

haha! They are connected. Fooled you!

This is how I feel in the winter. Someone revive my brittle branches and breathe color into my knots.

Protected Heights

And the people in the houses all went to the university Where they were put in boxes and they came out all the same, And there’s doctors and there’s lawyers, and business executives And they’re all made out of ticky tacky and they all look just the same

An old lady dropped this out her window, and sat at the sill waiting for someone to walk by and read her what it said. Those shiny philanthropists were none other than yours truly and L-bot. It was from Janet giving the old woman a little gift.

I like this plant because it reminds me of a bride who was stood-up at the alter. But pride being the merciless foe it is, would not let her move or change out of her dress despite the desperate circumstances. As years passed, she aged and withered. Still, she stands.

Not necessarily artsy, but it's your daily dose of Pancakes!

Getting ready for Boston. Run DMC are my partners in crime.

Riding on the Red Line

Creepy, the tunnel from Red to Orange... it's like the tunnel in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

I do not know this lady.

Sing! Sing. Sing!

Mike and Patty's. Please go there. Most delicious I have ever had!

MIKE & PATTY’S

This place is small BUT it is the most delicious breakfast/lunch I have ever had. We went there without any notice, there is only 1 table and a counter. Still we only had to wait about 5 min before we were seated– how serendipitous! The place did get packed! it is very popular; most took their meals to go.

I got the Turkey Rachel (Turkey Reuben, but with slaw instead of Kraut), and my boyfriend got the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the Ricotta Pancakes.

Everything was like heaven in my mouth. I have never had pancakes with such a wonderful mouth feel, so light and not artificially sweetened with loads of powdered sugar and the like.
The sandwiches were also superb. The russian dressing on my sandwich wasn’t too thick so I didn’t feel like I was going to birth a big-mac after eating it. The rye was perfectly toasted and the cheese had an undeniable firm, but melted consistency. I can’t believe I just hailed the praise of cheese because I have historically hated cheese…
My boyfriend’s pulled pork sandwich had chopped pickles which were unexpected but went swimmingly with the tender juicy pieces of shredded pork.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Yum! I will gladly go back, except next time I will call ahead and take it to go.

Tupelo Egg Sandwich

TUPELO Sunday Brunch:
I suppose I can’t be too critical because I am in the northeast and not, in fact, in the south. I thought overall the place was good.

Meals I tried:
1. Biscuits with Sausage Gravy- a little too salty, but still pretty good tasting, especially if you are throwing your health concerns to the wind. The portion was fairly large, but could have done with larger biscuits.
2. Fried Chicken and Waffles- The waffles were great, though I’m not sure how one would mess up a waffle. The butter was more reminiscent of ice cream than butter, which was good because I felt less guilty about slathering it all over my waffles… This of course doesn’t make any sense at all because I’m sure ice cream is far worse ounce for ounce than butter. The chicken was disappointing. It wasn’t really succulent. I have yet to get the Chicken Waffle hype. Someday when I go to the south I will understand.
3. Tupelo egg sandwich- This was delicious, especially the home fries, but I’m not sure it stood out so much so that I would ever get it again.
4. Coconut cake- Probably my favorite part of my meal. The crust was great and matched the cream filling well.
5. Key lime pie- Apparently I have never had a real key lime pie before in my life, but I’m glad my past ones were phonies because they weren’t good. This pie was more like a cheese cake flavored like lime, and I thought it was excellent!

Add on two coffees and it cost approx $47.00 before tip.

The best part about this restaurant is the service. We had a particularly amicable waitress, she would converse with us in an unobtrusive way. She was attentive and great!

I think it’s too far out of my way to go back, but it’s a decent place to go for something different.
